Agroecology vs Conventional: What Pays Off in Greenhouse Tomatoes?

Apr 3, 2025 | Scientific Publications | 0 commenti

A study published in Scientific Papers Series Management, Economic Engineering in Agriculture and Rural Development compares agroecological and conventional greenhouse tomato production in Antalya Province.

While conventional systems benefit from lower initial and operating costs, agroecological farms achieve higher yields and better market prices. As a result, they outperform conventional systems across key investment indicators, including profitability and payback time.

The findings suggest a clear takeaway: although more capital-intensive at the start, agroecological production can deliver stronger economic returns in the long run.
