A study published in Scientific Papers Series Management, Economic Engineering in Agriculture and Rural Development examines the economic performance of greenhouse tomato production in Antalya Province under agroecological and conventional systems.
Although agroecological farms face higher production costs per hectare, they generate significantly greater value thanks to higher yields and better prices. This results in much stronger economic outcomes, with net profits more than double those of conventional systems and a higher profit margin.
The key insight: greater investment can translate into substantially higher profitability when supported by market value and productivity gains.
