The ASTER Project is pleased to announce the upcoming conference “Agroecology Applied to Tomato: Tools and Solutions for More Sustainable Production”, an event dedicated to strengthening knowledge transfer and dialogue between researchers, technical experts, and end users from the agricultural sector.
The conference will take place on Friday, 15 May 2026 at the Eduardo Primo Conference Hall of the Valencian Institute for Agricultural Research (IVIA) in Moncada, Valencia, Spain. The initiative is organized within the framework of the ASTER Project in collaboration with the Generalitat Valenciana and IVIA.
The event has been designed specifically to bring innovative agroecological strategies closer to farmers and stakeholders involved in tomato production. Throughout the day, participants will have the opportunity to learn about practical tools and sustainable solutions aimed at improving crop resilience, ecosystem services, biological pest control, and environmentally friendly production systems.
The programme will feature contributions from leading researchers and institutions across Europe, covering topics such as:
- Sustainable management of pests and abiotic stresses in tomato cultivation
- Agroecological strategies against Tuta absoluta
- Activation of plant defenses for more sustainable crop protection
- Evaluation of agroecological practices on productivity and ecosystem services
- New opportunities in biological control using beneficial insects
- Auxiliary plants as tools to improve crop resilience
Experts from Italy, Greece, Portugal, and Spain will share the latest results from field studies and applied research activities carried out within the ASTER framework and related initiatives.
This conference represents an important opportunity for the transfer of scientific knowledge to end users, fostering stronger connections between research and practical agricultural applications in the Mediterranean tomato sector.
